Camp O'Rally Champions - Oct 2009

Members of Boy Scout Troop 190 attended the Camp O'Rally at Henson Scout Reservation last weekend. There were 10 contests held and Troop 190 took home the prize on 5 of the 10 events. The scouts practiced for many weeks. Troop 190 won the Flint & Steel Fire starting (the only troop who did it properly), First Aid, Knot Tying, Pancake flip (where they had to build a fire, cook a pancake and flip it over a rope several feet in the air and repeat 3 times. The scouts finished before any other troop even completed 1 pancake flip), and Ice Floe Rescue (tie 8 ropes together, throw it to the next scout, tie it to the blanket and pull the person in). Troop 190 also got 2nd place in the pyramid contest.

Events such as this showcase camping and scouting skills while having fun, building teamwork and enjoying the comradery that scouting creates. These scouts are working on their rank advancements in hopes of following in the footsteps of many former Troop 190 scouts and attaining the ultimate goal of Eagle Scout.

Scouts on the Appalachian Trail - Sept 09

Shown here are members of Boy Scout Troop 190 taking a much needed rest after backpacking and hiking over 10 miles on the Appalachian Trail ending up in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The scouts each had to carry their own supplies, food, sleeping bag, and tent during the entire hike. A hike such as this is one of the requirements as scouts move up in their rank, working toward the ultimate goal of Eagle Scout. Last year, Troop 190 had 4 Scouts earn this honor.

Pictured here are Jacob Aylward, leader Richard Price, leader Mark Miller, leader Jay Hawkins, Nicholas Price, Brandon, LeRoy McCoy, Erik Oross, Will Hawkins, leader Mr. Eichelman, leader Tom Caraker, Bobby Jones, Colby Miller, Nick Underwood, Jerry Eichelman, Justin Price, Parker Brophy, Peyton North, Willi Singlestad, Bo Burton, and Cameron McCoy.
